Our Faith

We are life-time members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon). Many folks have mistaken views about Mormon faith. These are some things that we, as Mormons, believe:
  • We believe in God as our Father in Heaven. He is the literal Father (Creator) of our spirits. He is a glorified Being with body, substance and purpose. He loves us, is aware of us, and has a plan and purpose for us.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer and the literal Son of God. We strive to follow his example. He is our leader. We love and trust Him.
  • We believe in the worth of the human soul. All people are spirit children of God and have divine nature. We respect all people and treat them with kindness, charity, and tolerance. We believe that life is precious and that we must protect it.
  • We believe that there are eternal laws that govern mankind. Truth and goodness are not relative in the eyes of God. Right and wrong, good and evil, light and darkness co-exist, and the outcome of our lives will depend upon which of these we choose.
  • We believe that marriage between man and woman is ordained of God and that within marriage we are commanded to have children. We believe that parenthood is a sacred trust and privilege, and that our families can be together forever.
  • We believe that the human body is a temple in which our eternal spirit dwells while on earth. One day, our immortal body and spirit will be inseparably connected through the power of the resurrection, and we will find a fullness of joy not had in our mortal state. Though imperfect, we greatly value our bodies and strive to keep them free from things that are unhealthy, vile, or degrading.
  • We believe that the pure gospel of Jesus Christ and the authority to conduct its saving covenants and ordinances were lost from the world, and that they were restored by divine authority through the Prophet Joseph Smith and continue through modern prophets and apostles. By divine commission, we seek to share this knowledge with all people that they might enjoy the same blessings. We respect all religions.
  • We believe that the American continent is a promised and choice land, and our Constitution was inspired by God for the establishment of truth, human rights, and agency. We trust God that He will sustain and uphold our freedom and prosperity if we will honor Him and keep his commandments. For us, faith in God is indispensable to nation's survival.
  • We are a covenant (promise) making people. Our faith is expressed in keeping the commandments and statutes given by the Savior. Our covenants are sacred to us, and some are only made in our temples, which are different from our houses of worship. We seek to honor our covenants to the Lord throughout our lives. On occasion, these promises make us appear somewhat peculiar in the eyes of the world.
